July 31st, 2008 by Ang. -- Posted in ChitChat |That title reminds me of something funny that Clint said yesterday. We had S.O.S. for supper last night. Clint was calling it So Happy Its Thursday On a Shingle. ROFL!!!!!!!! Funny kid.
So today is apple day. I plan on getting through as many apples as I can today. I am filling the crockpot with apple butter first. I can can that on Saturday after it is done cooking down. The rest of what I get done today will be sauce and the requested pie. I am also going to get a recipe for canned apple pie filling from a friend. I cannot believe how blessed we have been with the gift of garden produce from friends! It will go a long way to feed the family through the winter months.
Our doggy house guest goes home today. I think he is more than ready to go home! I wonder if he has ever been left this long before. He is a sweet, sweet dog but I know he will be happy to see his family today.
So apples is all that I will be doing today. Just think, when you are here in April you get to taste the fruits of my labor. That will be good!

Wow, I don’t envy the work you have to do today at all. I’ve canned in the midwest without air conditioning and it sucks. Of course, if you have a window in your kitchen, you are one-upping me
My notebook is still working out pretty good for me. I plan to blog on that soon, and you will be able to see how I set it up.
You know, because we have chatted about it, that I am thinking about going back into a fibery/craft business. I swear, if we had the resources, Mama and I would be opening a craft store next summer. But we don’t. So. What I am wondering is how to go about getting the products in front of the people. I’m wondering about putting the second sidebar back up on knits, with a gallery in it. I don’t want to take up room on the blog with posts about it, so it would link to a page, I guess? Unless I could set up the cart right in the sidebar. Or something. I’m realizing that it is pretty much given that I am opening a shop, and only the how-to is holding me back. Sigh. Because I have so much free time? Also, remind me to have DH fix my dye bar over the sink, and soon.
Today, I am taking 5 of the kids to the doctor for sports physicals. Dh and I both have to go, so I am having a teenager come in to sit with the littles. We’ll see how that goes. Football and cheer start next week, so I will be pretty slammed through October.
I’m glad we started this blog. It’s nice to be able to talk to you when you are not at the keyboard.

So far I have 20 cups of apple butter simmering in the crock pot. I have 2 quarts of sauce bagged up and I gave away 3 quarts. I have a ton more apples to deal with! I am about a quarter of the way through the tub that I want to finish today. Whew! I am ready for a nap already. So far the kitchen has not been too hot. I have a fan blowing on my legs and a window open.

I’ve been buried butt-deep in code today. I am not happy. It will take me several more hours to figure this out.
