Hello. It is Friday!
August 29th, 2008 by Cass -- Posted in ChitChat |And a happy Friday it is, too. I finally get my haircut today, LOL! Except Mama wanted to go to ACMoore. Sigh. Because right after the haircut, I have to blow back to a boy scout leader meeting on the other side of town. No ACMoore for me. Darn it.
Also, I apologize for giving you a panic attack this morning. I had misread, and it is 1200 calories, not 1000. And I already knew those cuts would have to come from the wine and popcorn. There is NOWHERE else to cut and still eat a sustainable diet. Yes, I also know that I kept saying 1000. That’s because I was reading the notes I took when I misread. I found the error when I went back to re-do the research based on your reaction to 1000. So, thanks for that.
Also, based on the budget cuts, I am again rethinking our menus. I used to shop a lot more frugally than I do now, and I need to get back to that. In times past, I have drawn the line at 10 cents per ounce on all but meat and dairy. If I go back to that, then a lot of the convenience foods I now buy will no longer be coming home with me. That seems sad, but in reality, it is not. What can come home will have less added fats and sugars. PLUS, I can put some of the cost of those foods into more fresh fruit and veggies. I don’t know what my cut-off is going to be on meat and dairy, I’ll have to look at that when I go to the store again, but I am thinking 2 bucks a pound on the meat, and 3 on cheese. I wish we had Aldi’s and SavALot here.
I know it seems like i am obsessing over food lately, and in truth, I have been giving it quite a bit of attention. Reducing the food budget, finding out I need to watch the cholesterol (byebye eggs, which are a great cheap protein source, likewise hamburger meat), and then reducing the food budget again, all while trying to lose weight have meant I had to think about food a lot more than I normally would have. It’s an area I needed to get under contol anyway. In my free time.
And speaking of free time, mine is over until Thanksgiving. First games are tomorrow, and I will be at the ballpark from 8am until 8pm. Yeah, there goes my food budget, LOL. I’ll be looking for cheap options, and now we have come pretty much full circle.
Also, you can expect to see a lot of this post expanded on Cass Cooks, Too!
