Really, you need to read My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers. It is a daily devotional that takes 2 minutes to read but leaves you contemplating for a long time! Today I was struck by this, “We must never make our moments of inspiration our standard, our standard is our duty.” Regardless of whether or not God is patting our heads and speaking profound words to us or not, we need to continue in the work He has set before us. We cannot create those inspired moments and the more we try to the more God holds them back. He will grant us inspiration on His time and terms not ours. We just need to move forward doing His work regardless. I tell you, Cass, this is some good stuff.

to start our Bible study? Do we want to do it daily or weekly? This pretty little green book is sitting beside my elbow just waiting to be read.

Today’s Bible lesson was designed for us! While it talks about doing work for God, I don’t think they Mr. Chambers had house cleaning in mind. I think he meant doing the works of God. However, I think that what he had to say today can most certainly be applied to our cleaning.
A worker without this solemn dominant note of concentration on God is apt to get his work on his neck; there is no margin of body, mind or spirit free, consequently he becomes spent out and crushed. There is no freedom, no delight in life; nerves, mind and heart are so crushingly burdened that God’s blessing cannot rest.
It became easier when we enlisted God’s help. We have become more focused on Him in our efforts to get our houses in order. We know that it is only through Him that we are accomplishing this. We have turned our attention to Him and *poof* like magic our lives have become better. Not just our houses but our lives. Good stuff.

I thought I would use some space here to share some of the things I am learning in my Bible Study, as we said we’d do.
I am doing the study To Train Up a Mom right now. The lesson are broken down into short segments, which makes it easy to fit it in. Today, I started a new lesson, and the lead verse was Ephesians 2:10, where we are told that God created us for good works, which He laid out for us beforehand.
ANG.! The works are already laid out. We were created to do those jobs God decided needed to be done. How many do we miss? and what blessings do we miss by missing the jobs? Worse, how many do we see and refuse because we “don’t have the skills”, “don’t feel called”, “are better than that?”
The other side is that He so greatly desires to reward us in heaven that He presents us with opportunities to garner jewels for our crowns. He desires to richly bless us her and there!
And we make a big deal that Christ is the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the world, and don’t get me wrong, it is a very big deal. A deal without which nothing else matters. But the fact is, God has a plan for each of us, and that plan was also made from the foundation of the world. The difference between us and the true Son, is that we often say “no”.
